Documenting spiritual life as it existed in the ghettos and death camps during the Holocaust. Shem Olam seeks to ensure the continuity of memory through education. Shem Olam is devoted to exploring the most compelling questions concerning the role that faith and religious conviction played in the lives of Holocaust victims and those around them. Shem Olam is focussed on Jewish as well as non-Jewish issues of faith.

The conference will take place at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem 8-11 August 2004.
The conference content has been specially geared towards educators and teachers who are active in Jewish and secular education across the world, to discuss pertinent points and dilemmas of teaching the Holocaust in formal and informal education around the world.
